The Challenge

LuxStep sells curated sneakers and shoes out of Lipjan, Kosovo, and was running the whole business through Instagram - DMs for orders, screenshots for the catalog, and a notebook for stock. There was no real storefront, no structured catalog, and no way to manage orders as the business grew.

They needed a fast, good-looking store that matched the premium feel of the product, worked in Albanian and English, and fit how Kosovars actually buy - through Instagram and WhatsApp, without forcing an online-checkout flow they did not yet need.

Our Approach

We built a dark-luxury storefront on Astro and Cloudflare’s edge, backed by a complete admin CRM so the owner can run the entire shop - catalog, stock, customers, and orders - from one dashboard.

Key Focus Areas

  1. Premium Storefront - A dark, fast, mostly server-rendered shop with a clean product catalog organized by brand, category, and size/variant
  2. Admin CRM - Protected dashboard for products, orders, customers, stock alerts, reports, and settings
  3. Local Ordering - Designed around Instagram DM and WhatsApp ordering, the way the market already buys, with no checkout friction for v1
  4. SEO Landing Pages - Programmatic pages for brands, collections, trends, gender, and cities to capture local sneaker searches

Technical Implementation

  • Framework: Astro 6 in server mode with low client-side JavaScript for speed
  • Hosting: Deployed as a Cloudflare Worker serving static assets and on-demand routes
  • Data: Cloudflare D1 (SQLite) for the catalog and orders, R2 for product images
  • Images: Right-sized AVIF and WebP variants served from R2 for crisp, lightweight visuals
  • Styling: Tailwind CSS v4 with a CSS-first dark theme
  • Auth: HMAC-signed session cookies with constant-time password checks for the admin
  • Discoverability: Bilingual SEO with hreflang, a sitemap, robots, and an llms.txt for AI crawlers

Results

LuxStep went from a DM-only operation to a real online store the owner controls end to end:

  • A storefront that matches the product - a polished, dark-luxury catalog instead of Instagram screenshots
  • One dashboard to run the shop - products, stock alerts, customers, and orders in a single CRM
  • Bilingual reach - Albanian-first with a full English mirror for the diaspora
  • Built for local search - brand, collection, and city landing pages target how people look for sneakers in Kosovo

Client Feedback

“We finally have a store that looks as good as the shoes. Managing stock and orders is simple now, and customers still reach us the way they like - on Instagram and WhatsApp.”
